There hasn't been much time for the Cruwys research in recent weeks as we've been away on holiday in Corsica. Vanessa Goodwin has sent me an update on her Cruwys research together with a wonderful selection of family photographs. I hope to have them on this page soon once I've caught up with everything else. Patricia Rice has also been in touch about her Cruse family and I will be replying to her shortly. In the meantime I'm posting some photographs of Corsica as a reminder of what summers should be like! We were staying in a resort called Santa Giulia in the south of the island near the town of Porto Vecchio. Santa Giulia has the most beautiful beach with the clearest water I've ever seen. The photograph below doesn't really do it justice.
This photograph shows the Barrage de L'Ospedale in the Bavella mountains. It is a large reservoir which provides water for the Porto Vecchio region.
Bonifacio (below) is the most southerly town in Corsica. It is a mixture of old medieval streets and tall, elegant Genoese buildings, some of which are perched in impossibly precarious positions on the white limestone cliffs. One of the houses actually fell into the sea in the 1960s!
